Avoid The Wall

My wife works incredibly hard for our family and goes through the day tackling tasks one after the other like her hair is on fire. Most of the time, I can’t keep up with her. She is also incredibly unselfish when it comes to caring for our children. To the point where she neglects herself and her own needs.

Some time after that, she eventually hits the wall. At this point, there is no where to go. She is down for the count in bed with exhaustion, a cold or other ailment that manifests itself from not taking the time to rest and rejuvenate herself on a consistent basis before the fit hits the shan.

She is getting better as her awareness grows of what she needs to stay well, but the train can fall off the tracks quite easily once she looses focus.

We all have the ability to keep our train on the appropriate track, if we keep our self-awareness in check.

Making Connections

Many of us – including me – set big audacious goals we’re looking to meet in today’s busy and sometimes chaotic world. Putting in the work on a day to day basis in order to move towards our target.

There’s no problem in having these aspirations, but let’s also keep in mind what makes living on this earth so wonderful; human connection.

I know I can get so caught up in attaining my goal that I ignore moments when I can connect with others. Whether that’s my loved ones or even a stranger.

Whenever I go out of my way to connect with someone and I have a pleasant experience, I always think to myself; ‘Wow. Just think if you had missed that opportunity to connect?’ And then I think, ‘I’m so glad I made the effort.’

Just Curious

I love curiosity and I enjoy others who are always curious. There seems to be so much to discover in being so. Often times, we discover that our assumptions are dead wrong after diving into the research. This is always a thrill for me.

Other times we can become complacent instead and accept things as they are without questioning them. We become bored with life. We become apathetic – indifferent even. Ugh.

I heard someone say that if you’re bored with life, then life is certainly bored with you. Remaining curious about all things will engage us into our daily lives and bring about discovery, excitement and possibly bewilderment.

Could we become an even more well-rounded person by staying curious? Hmmm. Not sure.

I Am

I am life as I am alive. I am Love. I am a man. I am a husband. I am a father. I am a brother. A son, a friend, a teammate, classmate and a colleague. I am a stranger in the next car. I am a leader. I am flawed and broken. We all are. I am willing to pick up the pieces and move forward. I am a student of life.

I am capable of many wonderful things. I am here. I am humbled to be able to walk this earth. I am grateful. I am willing to admit my wrongs. I am stubborn. I am egocentric at times. I am born with gifts and I am willing to share those with others.

I am a spiritual being having a human experience. I am gaining some wisdom from life. I am able to reflect on my past. I am touched. I am humbled. I am embarrassed. I am human. I am bewildered. I am done.

The Hope To Hope

When we’re young we hope to become a professional athlete, award-winning artist or a famous scientist/doctor that changes the world for the better for everyone. As we move on in years, sometimes we’re discouraged by the path, as it can takes years – even decades for it to materialize. We’re not willing to pay that price. We quickly realize hope is not going to bridge that gap between not being there and manifesting that dream.

That doesn’t mean we should lose hope. It only clarifies the path one must take and the daily habits we openly embrace in order to move in the direction of attainment.

Let’s not lose hope. But, it can be futile without a plan and the movement of our feet.
