Love The Challenge

We can set appropriate expectations – and thus being prepared the most -by embracing – and do I dare say – Loving the challenges when they come our way. Oops. Just did.

And yes, we can. After all, it’s a decision. Let’s make it our own and move on.

Life – our view of life anyway – is just a perspective. We get to choose which one works for us. But, the one’s that set us up for success are the most constructive.

There are reasons why some of us are more “successful” in certain areas of our lives than others. But let’s not kid ourselves and think it’s because of chance or luck. We are where we are because of the choices we have made. Period. After all, we are 100% responsible for our own lives.

So, let’s choose to Love the challenges that lie before us and watch how that colors the way we handle them. We may just be surprised at the results.

Expecting Anything

The quicker we come to understand the world is not perfect – and never will be – the better.

Not because we’re giving up and calling it quits, but because we’re now prepared for what’s next.

What is next? Anything.

That doesn’t mean we should expect the worst, but it’s possible.

Being in denial isn’t a solution. We don’t go camping with the idea that if I say it’s not going to rain it won’t. You’ll be unprepared, wet and miserable.

The idea is that we understand what we’re in for and we’re ready to pivot when necessary.

And most importantly, we’ve been through rough patches before, so we can certainly get through the next one.

We just need to keep the faith.

Run With It

We can’t always make the right decision.

This is a fact and that’s okay. There are many factors in determining which direction we go and we may or may not have as much information at decision time as we want. But, that’s life.

More important than making the correct decision, is to commit to the one we’ve made and ride it out to the bitter end. What we learn during that process is much more valuable than our judgement that’s on the nose.

More than likely, our world will not fall apart because of one wrong decision, but our indecisiveness can hurt us in the long run.

Assess the situation taking into account all the information we have at the time and move on. Run with it!

We can do this.

Trusting The Process

When we get excited about the mundane, the repetitive and the daily tasks, we’re forming a habit – a structure/template where we can build the foundation for our success.

It’s not magical. It’s not complicated. It’s actually quite simple. Clear and effective tasks repeated over and over and over again that will take us in the direction of where we want to go.

The most difficult part of it is how easy it is to not do the small things on a daily basis that will eventually get you the results you intend. Why? Because they are so small – what we believe to be so insignificant, that we don’t do them.

And here is where we begin our drift. We loose our focus because we’re unable to continue over time the tasks long after our attention and our excitement have waned.

If we can stick with it long enough before giving up, we will begin to see the fruits of our labor. But, if we quit too early, we come to believe it was just a waste of our time.

And here is where patience comes into play for us. Let’s not give up just yet. Let’s stick with it just a bit longer. It’ll be worth it.

Acknowledging Fear

We all come up against what can be the unknown, the untested and the foreign. Often times this manifests as fear.

Personally, I experience fear pretty much on a daily basis even though I’m approaching situations in my day I’ve worked through just the day prior. I’ve stopped questioning why I have these fears and instead continue to square up to them repeatedly.

In doing so, I have begun to find a quiet confidence with the process. A gentle push in the back to help me work through these times.

I see it as this: My only job is to show up and face what I’m afraid of by looking it dead in the eyes. Once there, the rest takes care of itself.

Another way of saying it is, once I’ve committed to pushing through my hesitation, the answers to the problems always always always present themselves.

This I know as well as I know the sun will rise tomorrow.
