Finding Balance

“Everything in moderation” is a bit overstated no doubt. Maybe another way of saying it is, “Finding balance in our life.”

Most likely someone will say that you can have balance in your life if you just want to be mediocre in everything. Maybe. Maybe not.

Are we successful in life if we have an extremely profitable business making a six figure income but no private life, deep relationships or anyone to share it with because we work 12 hour days? Can we be happy if we’re not able to focus enough time on our health (mentally and physically) and taking care of our needs due to dysfunctional relationships all around us?

Life is a delicate balance. It takes a self-awareness to maintain the areas of our lives that need attention, repair and love. In the end, we are more likely to be happy when many facets of our lives are working – not just one.

Like It

Before social media and before the idea of “liking” something was tapping a heart emoji on a video or photo of someone we may not even know, we would like things we felt open to. We connected with something or a person. We took a chance and opened ourselves up.

When we choose to like a TV show, we “buy in” and give ourselves over. The same with saying out loud, “I like this person.” We are committing to a decision – we’re cutting off other options. We could always change our minds, but at that moment in time we made a commitment to ourselves and possibly another person in which we followed up with actions that support our declaration.

Nowadays, with so much cancel culture and judgement on and offline, we seem to straddle the line hoping to appease each and every perspective, person, group, faction and political party. It’s okay if someone else doesn’t agree with us. We’ll survive. They will too.

Make a decision to like a person and their company because they treat you with kindness and respect. Go out on a limb and choose to like green tea ice cream because you like the taste of it. Who cares what any one else thinks. It’s not about them anyway.

Just like it!

You Don’t Need To Know Anything

Ha! How do you like that title?

What I mean is this: We often times want to know the lay of the land and the results of the ending before we get started. Life doesn’t work that way. Unless your my wife and she’s looking up the ending of the movie on her phone as we sit in the theater in the dark watching . . . the movie.

Every other occasion we are taking a step into the abyss on blind faith. This means we are abundantly clear that we don’t have the answers for what we’re engaged in and trying to accomplish at the time. We have no clue on how it’s going to come together. And that’s the idea.

Get comfortable not knowing. Get comfortable in the unknown. Get used to the dark. There’s nothing we need to be afraid of and nothing else we need to know.

It’s Always A Good Time

There’s always time to celebrate someone in our lives. There’s always time to let them know we appreciate them for who they are. Even though maybe they haven’t done much for us. .

It’s always a good time to tell someone you Love them. Lord knows we could use more Love in the world.

It doesn’t have to be a birthday. It can be a Tuesday. A Saturday. Any day. Any time. Anyone.

Our lives often times become the people we surround ourselves with and our relationships become how we treat others. Why not give ‘it’ away once in a while. Maybe a whole buch. Why not?

This world can always use a bit of unselfishness today.

Let’s go celebrate.

The Green Or The Red Pill?

I suppose we always have the choice of going through life anesthetized – numb or unconscious, finding brief moments in time to come up for air and convincing ourselves this is all that life has to offer in regards to being happy.

Or we can take control of our lives and question how we choose to be a participant in it by asking questions, challenging our own perspective and deep diving into our minds to understand how best we can operate in this great big world of ours as we grow, learn and evolve into the best version of ourselves we can be.

The choice is yours.
